London Climate Action Week (LCAW) is just one month away— and 2025 marks a special milestone. Now entering its 7th edition, LCAW has grown into the world’s largest European’s climate event, bringing together citizens, businesses, policymakers, and organisations from across the world.
(This year, The Green Londoner is a supporting media partner for LCAW 2025, committed to covering events, interviews, and behind-the-scenes moments throughout the week).
Whether you’re new to LCAW or a returning participant, here are 10 key things to know ahead of this year’s edition:
1. It’s the 7th edition
Established in 2019 in partnership with the Mayor of London, LCAW is hosted by the international climate think tank E3G. 2025 marks seven years of growing momentum, wider participation, and stronger international recognition.
2. It’s Europe’s largest independent climate event
With over 400 events expected across London, LCAW is officially the largest urban climate event globally — a reminder that cities are at the forefront of climate action.
3. It’s organised around a flexible “umbrella” model
LCAW is coordinated by a small Secretariat hosted at E3G. Rather than tightly curating events, LCAW acts as an open platform: organisations, councils, charities, businesses, and individuals are invited to publish and run their own events under the shared LCAW banner.
4. Four Key Priorities Shape This Year’s Programme
LCAW 2025 is built around four strategic themes:
- Building climate ambition on the road to COP30 by strengthening cooperation, politics, diplomacy, and finance to achieve a 1.5°C aligned outcome.
- Financing an inclusive and resilient climate transition by reforming financial markets and scaling up investment in net zero, resilience, nature, and just transitions.
- Delivering a Net Zero and resilient London and UK by assessing progress toward ambitious climate goals and boosting London’s leadership. (We particularly love this one at The Green Londoner!)
- Mobilising whole-of-society climate action, engaging key sectors like law, education, health, fashion, arts, and culture. (And this one too!)
5. The goal: A year-round movement
LCAW is evolving beyond a single week. While the main celebration takes place in June, the goal is to spark ongoing action, partnerships, and collaboration throughout the year. LCAW is building a year-round platform for climate innovation, engagement, and impact — keeping the momentum alive well beyond the official week.
6. A platform to push for more climate action — especially in London
LCAW isn’t just about ideas — it’s a catalyst for pushing leadership and institutions toward real change, making London a true global climate leader.
7. London’s unique role
Few cities have the political influence, financial power, creative energy, and grassroots activism that London does. LCAW leverages all these strengths and has already inspired seven similar climate action weeks around the world, from Shanghai to Sydney. It’s also driving higher public visibility and debate around London’s 2030 Net Zero goal.
8. How you can get involved as a Londoner
Anyone can participate! Here’s how:
- Attend public events — most are open to all, some require an invite, and only a few are private.
- Visit exhibitions showcasing climate innovation and action.
- Host your own local event under the LCAW umbrella!
9. How organisations can participate
Startups, charities, universities, councils — all are encouraged to register their events under the LCAW banner to boost visibility, build connections, and contribute to London’s climate leadership story.
10. The Green Londoner will be covering (almost) everything
The Green Londoner will be on the ground — covering key events, interviewing changemakers, and sharing behind-the-scenes moments. We’re also preparing to run our own activities during the week! Follow The Green Londoner to stay updated throughout LCAW 2025! Stay tuned on our website, Instagram, and LinkedIn channels for updates.
