London is a vibrant hub for climate-related events and activities organised by charities, NGOs, academics, as well as communities and businesses. We believe it’s time to share these events more widely because there’s something for everyone—whether it’s 🎨 art, 🌳 outdoor activities, 📚 education, or 👐 volunteering. From now on, The Green Londoner will feature a monthly selection of the best green activities London has to offer. If you love the idea, let us know! And share any activities worth promoting. 📩
♻️ Circular Economy Week
📅 30 September – 6 October, London
The 7th edition of Circular Economy Week is packed with events focused on circular economy initiatives. ReLondon is hosting workshops, webinars, and events—both in-person and online—featuring key London players. We love the strong London focus, practical approach, and that most events are free.
📚 Green Libraries Week
📅 7-13 October, across libraries in the UK and London
Many events related to the environment are being organised as part of Green Libraries Week, led by the CILIP: The library and information association. A helpful map shows locations hosting events, including those in London. We appreciate that libraries, as centres of knowledge, are getting involved, with activities for young people, adults, and businesses alike.
🌸 Kew Gardens: Rare and Extinct Exhibition
📅 19 October to 17 November 2024
This exhibition offers a rare chance to see plants that are either rare or extinct and not usually on display. Kew’s experts nurture these plants to preserve them for future generations. 🌱 It’s always a treat to visit Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and this is perfect for plant lovers who enjoy being transported into the past (and hopefully, the future!).
🔋 Net Zero Festival 2024📅 22-23 October, Business Design Centre, 52 Upper St, London N1 0QH
A well-established autumn event by BusinessGreen, bringing together public and private sector speakers to discuss the UK’s green transition. It’s for anyone interested in the green transition—officials, policymakers, businesses, and individuals. If you attend, be sure to ask ministers what their plans are to achieve net zero.
👗 Design Museum – Future Observatory: Tomorrow’s Wardrobe
📅 14 September 2024 – August 2025
We admire the Design Museum for its work on sustainability, particularly through the Future Observatory, a research programme supporting the green transition (we’ll cover this more in a dedicated article). This free exhibition highlights fashion—one of the most unsustainable industries—by showcasing groundbreaking research and innovation across the UK aimed at rethinking how fashion operates.
